Kosuke Tsumura Solo Exhibition [MUZIN]

NANZUKA UNDERGROUND is pleased to present a solo exhibition of works by Kosuke Tsumura (1959-).
Kosuke Tsumura is a well known fashion designer who has won the So-En Award in 1982 as well as established his own fashion label, "FINAL HOME," in 1994 after completing work at the Miyake Design Studio. With "Defense" and "Survival" as central concepts for the capabilities of fashion, Tsumura’s creativity has been met with acclaim in the fashion design world as well as out, including reception of the Second Prize at "21st Modern Japanese Art Exhibition" (Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo and other places, 1992) in addition to inclusion in the following exhibitions: "Vision Of The Body" (Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, 1999) and "Safe: Design Takes on Risk" (The Museum of Modern Art, New York, 2005). The diverse variety of Kosuke Tsumura’s creativity, which combines both the elements of mode and art, represent the new possibilities of "expression" in the present age.
Focusing on the boundary and transformation between design, fashion and art in his creative work, Tsumura developed a new figurative beauty for this exhibition using ready-made products and clothing. Just like Tsumura as a fashion designer, this series of works will complete by the act of "enfolding", which is a key perspective of clothing. All works consist of products that Tsumura loves, such as a monster doll in high heels or a figure of a girl’s torso. By "enfolding" them, Tsumura converts the combination of different figures through his own sensibility for beauty.
Tsumura’s comment on this exhibition is as follows: "These are images that have been attracting and bothering me from the past and up until now, sometimes appearing as a figure, or sometimes appearing in sexy pin heels. Such images have become intricately intertwined, appearing and disappearing in unexpected scenes and finally, I came up with the idea of catching them alive and unmasking them."

津村耕佑 個展 [夢神/MUZIN]

このたび、NANZUKA UNDERGROUNDは、津村耕佑（1959-） の個展を開催いたします。
津村耕佑は、1982年に装苑賞を受賞し、1994年に三宅デザイン事務所より、自身のブランド[ FINAL HOME ] を立ち上げたファッションデザイナーとして広く知られています。衣類の機能としての「ディフェンス」ないしは「サバイバル」というテーマを掲げたそのクリエイティヴは、これまでファッションデザインの分野だけに留まらず、「第２１回現代日本美術展」（東京都現代美術館他、1992年）準大賞受賞や「身体の夢」展（東京都現代美術館、1999年）「SAFE DESIGN TAKES ON RISK」展（ニューヨーク近代美術館、2005年）への参加など、表現ジャンルの境界を超えて、広く評価を受けてきました。モードとアートの双方の要素を併せ持つ津村耕佑の多様な創造力は、そのまま現代における「表現」の新たな可能性であると言えるでしょう。
今回の展覧会に向けて、津村は「デザイン的」または「ファッション的」な創作と「アート的」な創作の境界とその変容性に着目し、既成のプロダクトと布を用いて、新たな造形美を生み出しました。その一連の作品は、ファッション人津村らしく衣類の原点である「包む」という行為によって完成されます。 生み出された作品は、全て津村の愛する品々によって形成されています。例えば、ハイヒールと怪獣の人形であったり、トルソーと少女のフィギアであったりします。津村は、文脈の異なるモノの組み合わせを、「包む」事によって自らの美意識へと昇華させているのです。
津村は、今回の個展に寄せて、次のように語っています。 「過去、そして今でも私を魅了し悩ませ続けるイメージは、時にフィギュアとして表れ、あるいは時にセクシーなピンヒールに姿を変えて表れる。それが複雑に絡み合い、予期せぬ場面で出現しては消えていく。私は、ようやくその正体を暴き、生け捕りにする方法を思いついた。」
５月３０日（金）には、アーティストを囲んで、盛大なレセプションパーティーを開催いたします。皆様のご来場とご高覧を、心よりお待ち申し上げております。
